It’s taken a while, but from today creators can now mint 3D artworks on the popular NFT site Foundation. This will allow creators to mint works in the popular 3D GTLF and GLB formats. NFT collectors will now be able to add 3D pieces to their Foundation based collections, rotate, zoom and generally fiddle with these new artworks whether online, in metaverse galleries or using VR headsets.
A number of artists have already taken advantage of Foundation’s new capabilities and minted 3D pieces at the site. Artists such as Auriea Harvey, Oseanworld, David OReilly, Yung Jake, Superfiction, and the AR team from JADU have already taken advantage of 3D minting. It will be interesting to see how many more jump on the 3D train there, and how creators react to these new pieces.
It will be interesting to see how much 3D work gets listed on Foundation in the coming months, as the site has really set it’s brand by being the place for quality 2D pieces (albeit many generated from 3D pieces). But if you’d like to get on board, jump in now while it’s still fresh and you can stand out from the crowd.
If you’re a buyer, you can see that 3D pieces come with a 3D logo on the top left hand of the index box and artwork. You can see all the 3D pieces here – currently there are only 84 available at the site, but I can guarantee you that before long that will be into the 1000s! Is there value to buying one of the first 3D pieces at Foundation? We’ll have to see how it all plays out.
